"Jón Sigurðsson fékk handritið 1868 frá Jóni Guðmundssyni á Mýrum í Dýrafirði. Alþingi keypti handrita- og bókasafn Jóns Sigurðssonar árið 1878. Safnið var afhent Landsbókasafni að honum látnum, en hann lést 7. desember 1879. Það komst í hendur safnsins árið 1881 er það var flutt í Alþingishúsið." (per handrit.is)
