NE: James dates the whole MS to late in the 15th century, but Dated and Datable specifies the c. 1439 date for the two booklets including the Cato and bearing signatures of Marchall (ff. 45v, 49r) and "a form of obligation on fol. 25, drawn up in the name of Thomas Marchall of Todyngton, Bedfordshire, is dated 10 May 17 Henry VI (1439), the date at about which both booklets were probably written," attributing the rest of the MS to the "middle to third quarter of the ffteenth century"
