F. 1 lists the names of three owners: Quentinus Heduus (Jean Quentin d’Autun), professor of canon law at Paris (d. 1561); Henri Estienne (1528-1598), a Protestant scholar and printer; and Melchior Goldast (1578-1635). Henri Estienne bequeathed the MS to his son Paul Estienne (1566-after 1627), who followed in his father's footsteps professionally. Later owned by Jacques Bongars (1554-1612), a Protestant humanist and diplomat who lived most of his life in Strasbourg. He bequeathed the MS to Jacques Gravisset (1598-1658), who presented the MS to the library in Bern in 1632.
